Reader’s Oasis Books

Once upon a vacation, I was in Quartzsite, Arizona with some of my family. We were visiting our grandmother at her winter house. There’s not a whole lot to do out there, but we had a good time all the same. There’s a small cafe that was delicious. There’s the Gem World store that sells all kinds of jewelry and decor made of neat stones and gems. And then there’s the bookstore.

As a book lover, I just had to stop here to browse. But then we find out the guy who runs it is naked. He has a little sock type thing covering the important bits, but still naked. Didn’t matter though, because this bookstore was amazing.

There were so many books. There were just so many. And not just new or bestsellers. All of the books. It was awesome. Life changing even.

Also, there was a big, fat, fluffy cat hanging around the place too. So that was pretty neat.

But the reason I bring up this bookstore is because of the book that I purchased while I was there. I only bought one, which is very unlike me in usual bookstore trips, but I was flying home and couldn’t over stuff my suitcase. But I feel like I made a very good choice.

Doomsday Book by Connie Willis was one of those books that I just couldn’t put down. And when I was done with it, I just needed to know more. Two other books follow it, Blackout and All Clear. The stories took me on a wild ride and I just couldn’t get enough. There’s time travel and action and heartbreak. I highly recommend it.

So the moral of the story is, go to that weird bookstore and look at all the books. Find the title that jumps out at you and see where it takes you.
