My Reading Journey

The first book I read by myself was Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss. I remember sitting on the couch with my mom and struggling through every word. But in the end, I got it.

The next step on my reading journey was keeping a reading log for school. I relished being the one with the most books read each week. And then came those silly AR tests, and I was at the top for those too.

Reading is probably the only thing I’ve been really competitive about.

But after all that, I realized I actually liked the reading part. I devoured book after book, and I couldn’t get enough. Going to the library was my favorite pass time. From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler and A Little Princess and The Secret Garden were my early favorites.

My own little collection began as two boxes full of books. I graduated to a small bookshelf. Then a large one. Then more. And now I have so many books they’re stacked all over the place. I’ve literally had to stop buying books because I have nowhere to put them. But one day I’ll have a room dedicated to my books. And it will be jam packed.

Anyway, just wanted to get a little sentimental this week, haha. Come back Thursday to hear what I thought about last month’s reads.
