It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of Ms. Susannah Coolidge, of Fair-weather Place. Yes, the same Susannah Coolidge who cooks everyone those delightful sugar cookies on their birthdays. Her cooking will be missed. And so will she, of course.
On May 3rd, 2022 Susannah attended her last block party with her famous seven-layer dip and a bowl of macaroni salad. If we’d known it was the last, maybe we would have had that one more serving we resisted because of our too tight pants.
On May 13th, 2022 Susannah hosted a dinner party for a select few of her friends, and I was proud to be among them. She cooked a ham and all the sides you could ever dream of. And that was the most delicious thing I’ve ever eaten. If I’d realized I’d never again attend one of her dinner parties, I would have accepted the plate of leftovers. If you were also there, I hope you didn’t turn them down, and you enjoyed one last bite.
