When They Come to Town
A crisp breeze and autumn in the air
Back to school bells and say goodbye
To summer fun
But with fall comes the carnival
And funnel cake and stuffed prizes
With a hint of mystery if you’ll stop by
They work the booths, just like anyone
But don’t look too closely at their eyes
Or their teeth
The kids roam free between the tents
An endless maze of delight
But don’t let them wander too far
Because maybe when the carnival
Packs up to leave
There might be one or two kids unaccounted for
But maybe you’ll find them
Next time they come to town
